Ideas for tattoo for daughter?

Originally what I had thought of doing was her hand print with her name and birthday. But that will be a lot of black and I am afraid over time it won%26#039;t look so hot. I want something that I can add to as we have more kids. Another thought I had was her birth flower (lily of the valley). But it%26#039;s white, and also a flower is kinda girly if we have a boy next. I already have a tattoo on my right ankle, lower back, left shoulder, and right hip. I thought about right shoulder but I just can%26#039;t decide. I%26#039;d love some suggestions. Her name is Allison Paige. Not sure if I%26#039;m going to use both name or just Allison. Thanks!

Reply:I%26#039;ve been thinking about this a lot, I don%26#039;t have kids but eventually I want some and I was thinking about what kind of tattoo I would get for em, I would do their birth butterflys, march is a monarch and every month has a different butterfly, it%26#039;s still kind of girly. My best friend just had this awsome piece done for her kids, it%26#039;s a stick mom and two stick kids on either side of the mom with her kids names next to their stick people, it turned out amazing.

Edit: As for your second idea, I think it would be really neat to have a large branching tree symbolizing you and your husband, and surrounding the tree could be the birthflower of each child. This would probably work best on your lower back.
Reply:If you like the hand print idea dont give up on it yet. Take your idea to the artist you are gonna have do it, and explain it to him. Tell him you do not want it to be really black. he will do some sketches and then show them to you. Maybe you might want to get the palm of her and instead of the hand print. Or they can shade the hand print so it appears to be pressed into your skin, like if it were done in wet plaster. I think this last idea woud work well as it would be just the out line and then the fine shading that would look natural. Hope this helps. good luck and Good health to you and yours.

Reply:I%26#039;ve never heard of someone %26quot;germinating%26quot; bulbs. They are usually planted in the late fall (they need the snow in freezing to grow right).
Reply:Some bulbs take longer than others, and fall is a good time to plant. If they do not sprout at all, wait until next spring to dig them up. If you planted much below 4 to 6 inches deep, they may not sprout at all.

As Beachgirl said a few above me, who better to go to than the Mother of God? As Jesus is our brother, she is our mother and cares for all of us. We ask for her help in petitioning her son on our behalf. Again, if you want to get your sibling to do something, who better than to ask your mother?

But you can also petition the saints as well.

There really is no difference in my opinion between asking your friend to pray for you and asking those in Heaven to pray for you, except those in Heaven are freed from sin unlike us here on earth.

If you believe in God and Jesus as our Savior then you must also believe that he destroyed death and therefore all that leave this world are still alive.

Think of it as a telephone, of course the telephone line is our prayers. We can talk to them and ask them for help, just as we can do with a friend. We do get a response, but we just have to listen, something I don%26#039;t think the people today do very much.

A good example of speaking to those who passed before us is: Matthew 17:1-9, the Transfiguration. Before some of his Apostles, he shows just who he is and whom he%26#039;s been speaking to despite them not able to see the two men until Jesus shows them: Moses (Jewish Law) and Elijah (Jewish Prophecy).

This shows us that though we may not be able to see the Saints or Mary, they can still hear us.

The Protestants are right about one thing, Jesus did open up communication, but not just to God, but to those who have died before us and are now in Heaven. No where does it say we can or should only talk to God.

Asking Mary, the angels, and the saints to pray for us is only different than asking someone else to pray for us because that they are closer to God than we are. We ask the saints to pray for us in the same way that I may ask you to pray for me. The saints are not dead, they are alive in heaven with God. Mk 12;26-27 states %26quot;He is not God of the dead, but of the living.%26quot; The saints are more alive than we are. They are free from all sin. They enjoy the fillness of God%26#039;s life-giving presence. Flooded with God%26#039;s love, they care more about us now than they did on earth. We know that angels and saints place the prayers of the holy ones at God%26#039;s feet (Rev. 5:8 and Rev 8:3-4), supporting those prayers with their intercessions. The martyrs underneath the heavenly altar cry out for earthly vindication (Rev 6:9-11) showing that they are aware of, and concerned with, earthly affairs.

Reply:We ask the mother of God to pray for us because she is the MOTHER OF GOD!!! I mean when you need help, who do go to? I go to my mom, Jesus does the same. Not only that but when we pray to the blessed mother and to saints and holy men and women, we are not praying to them like a god or when we genuflect or kneel before a stature of saint or Mother Mary, but its like a Christian wearing a cross on his/her neck. It is a symbol of God that we respect and use to come closer to God. Reply:You should really narrow down your flower choices. There is a lot going on and you don%26#039;t want things to become crowded. Shades of blue and lavender with silver or gold would be very nice - you could use silver or gold candleabras for the centerpieces. Silver is more of a winter color than gold - because of the snow, etc.

Are you sure you want a winter wedding? The only reason I%26#039;m asking is the flowers you have listed, tulips, violets, lavendar, lily of the valley, these are all spring flowers. You are either going to pay dearly to get them or be very dissappointed when you can%26#039;t get them.

You don%26#039;t say where you are from, but if you are in a %26#039;cold winter%26#039; state you definitely are going to have problems with the delicateness of those flowers as well. They are not going to do well going from very cold to warm and back again and again. They will wilt, turn brown and just downright look bad by the time you get your pictures taken.

Re-think your flower selections if you have your heart set on a winter wedding, otherwise pick a warmer date.

One warning though- gardenias turn brown quite easily and they are one of the more expensive flowers :(

I vote Green and white. A hunter green, a mid-range pine green, and white. Its white for snow and green for evergreen trees and you use pine or holly in your florals.

Red has been the color at alsmost every wedding I%26#039;ve worked/been to in the last year. Blue works well for winter but is one of the most common colors chosen for it. Violet and gold...there are few violet flowers in season in winter time and most of them just scream %26quot;SPRING%26quot; and gold flowers just look tacky. Pink..most grooms hate pink and to be honest I%26#039;ve had enough of the pepto bismol receptions.

persoanlly, i think that silver, blue, and lavender/lilac is a beautiful winter combination. violets, forget me knots, lavender springs, and white roses would make some amazing bouquets.

Do you prefer scent (candles, soaps etc) in a fruity or flowery scent? I like flowery--lilac, gardenia and lily of the valley are my favorites.

(my grandmother had a huge gardenia bush in her garden, and I%26#039;d always snip off two or three when I visited her) I%26#039;ve tried the fruity scents, and I don%26#039;t care for them. My favorite perfume is Chanel Gardenia. Smells like the real deal.

I need ideas for ground cover in shade with soil that gets very wet in winter, probably not draining well..?

I live in the SF bay area, California. I have a tree-filled corner in the west side of my yard which only gets filtered sunlight, if any at all. The soil gets waterlogged every winter. I also have a dog, so plants that can tolerate a little foot traffic would be great too.

Would Lily of the Valley work here? I would love something that is green and attractive all year round, possibly with flowers. Right now, I only have a mini Japanese rock garden there, so something that would go with that theme would be even better. Am I asking for too much?

I have several ground covers in a woodland garden in my yard. Creeping Charlie, Lily of the Valley both do well. The one I find most attractive however is Perriwinkle. It has a nice dark leaf, can be walked over, spreads nicely and has a puple flower in early spring.
Reply:all answers sound good but u could also skip the ground cover for now and focus on fixin the drainage problem. i have a wet side in my yard too near the woods and it also dosent get good sun but i planted about 4 pussywillows out further towards the sun and i mean it really really helped get the water problem under control. pussywillows have wet feet and are very beautiful i think. just a suggestion.
Reply:vinca minor-it is a vining groundcover that has dark, glossy evergreen leaves, and in the spring (and sometimes again if it%26#039;s cooler in fall) it has little periwinkle blue flowers. Speads by rooting where it touches the ground.
Reply:Try a Creeping Charlie. They are great wholesome plants, and grow up any stick, they love trees. In Washington we had them growing on the roof, They are a large green leaf Ivy, and flower once a year, mostly white small flowers. but you can do anything with them. I was thinkin sage,cedar,lily of the valley, sandlewood see too many choices....help!!! I have 15 tables I am putting 4 votives with the centerpieces. I would put 4 candles. The scent will not be too over powering. What color do you want? I chose the color or my candels first- and then I decided what scents were available in that color. If you let me know your color choices I%26#039;ll let you know the best scents.

Reply:I agree with you as to not having all of the candles with a scent but rather just one out of the four. Some people have allergies and cough so I don%26#039;t think that just one will hurt anyone. I would go with a light scent and it kind of depends on what season your are getting married. For example, cedar would be more for the Christmas holidays. I like the Lilly of the Valley or Sandlewood for Spring/Summer or just Vanilla would be good too. Go ahead and put them at all of the tables. The room will have a light scent and not just the head table. ARe you going to put a mirror under the candles for additional glow....more bang for your dollar. Did you know that you can actually buy 12%26quot; mirror tiles from Lowes or Home depot in a box instead of renting them from hotels, etc? That way you can actually use the mirrors for many years to come when you entertain, for Christmas and other holidays. It is just a thought. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Im assuming since you%26#039;ll have 15 tables, there will be around 100+ people (guessing because we%26#039;re having 15 round tables holding 10 a piece so 150 people). I personally get migrains, so scented stuff really can irritate me easily. I would just be careful with putting out tons of scented stuff, because im sure if theres at least 100 people, there will be a few would may sensitive to smells.

In my opinion, a nice vanilla scent wouldnt be too overpowering. Or if you really want one of the scents you listed, maybe put about 5 total here and there (maybe not at the tables, but close by) and put non-scented candles on the tables that are the same colors, or colors that go with your theme.

Reply:the first poem is very tongue-in-cheek. it means that although the poet thinks himself superior to an animal such as a dog, he does not understand why he thinks humans superior, for some of their bad habits are worse than those of dogs.

Second poem: %26#039;Alba%26#039; means the color white. white is a color we associate as %26#039;cool%26#039;. ice... snow... a skating rink, etc. All the poem says is that the woman who lay next to him, was cool skinned. it%26#039;s not a deep poem, just a whimsy.

I am Spartacus. I have lived through many dangers. I have traversed the dreaded self service lane at the grocery, where peasants mysteriously forget how to use their ATM cards, and where those who otherwise toil competently each day are rendered incapable of performing the simple task of scanning groceries.

Sometimes it causes me to tremble, but I have solved the ancient inexplicable enigma of scented or unscented; light days, regular, or super; cardboard or plastic applicator; and deciphered the seemingly identical labels of Kotex and Platex, to select the correct hygienic product for my daughter. For I am Spartacus.

Although it set my soul afire, and I was tempted to smite those who would be my enemies, I have conquered the impenetrable menu of telephonic voices to speak to a living person when my cable broadband service is inexplicably interrupted. For I am Spartacus.

In order to accomplish these extraordinary feats, I have been inspired by the sunshine in my soul, the fair Varinia. When I needed phenomenal strength to accomplish my great deeds, my Lily of the Valley set my soul afire, so that I could defeat those who would thwart my efforts. Love lifted me to realize a strength that no other man possesses.

As she reached the front of the local grocery store, she smiled at her own thoughts and pondered, %26quot; I guess all you need in life is some form of balance. Some people write to ease their minds and to give an outlet to their creative sides, some play the guitar, some take up a sport, some go hiking in the mountains, some choose to explore the world. For me, the balance between the goals I have been pursuing in the city and having a peace of mind is, once in awhile coming home to this lovely, still quiet and unspoiled little town and watching the serenity on the faces of the people who live here. It simply gives meaning to everything and puts the madness of the city in perspective.

She heard the store owner%26#039;s wife cheerily calling out, %26quot;Hello there, Lilly! Our Lily of the Valley has come. Here, honey, have a glass of lemonade I just made this morning while you do your shopping in the store. Help with Shade Plantings?

I am planning to plant a garden in the shady area around the back of my house which will include primrose and lily of the valley. I also wanted to use some ground coverings and was looking at Cyclamen and Tradescantia. Can I plant both of these (since they bloom at different times) or will one choke the other one out? And if I have to chose, which is more managable - in other words, more containable?

Both are great, plant them a little farther apart to keep seperate. Blooming at different times promises more variety and a longer %26quot;window%26quot; of blooms. Hostas and impatiens are also nice and tolerate shade well.

What is the national flower of Sweden?

One website indicates that it’s Twinflower (Linnea Borealis).

Other website says it’s Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) which is also a national flower for Finland.

While lots of non-swedish websites say that the linnea borealis is the swedish national flower, I don%26#039;t find a single swedish reference that says so, and several that say it isn%26#039;t. It _is_ certainly the flower of the province of Småland.

The first link I put in the sources is someone asking (in swedish) the same question of the Uppsala University site about Carl von Linné (aka, Linnaeus) and they ought to know.

The second one is to sweden.se%26#039;s site about sweden (in english) and there is no mention of a national flower on it that I can see. I gave the link to the page about the national emblems we do have.

What is a good product or homemade concoction that I can spray on my plants to prevent my dog from eating them

I just learned that a few of my houseplants and garden plants are poisonous to dogs. My dog hasn%26#039;t eaten anything yet, but she does occasionally eat some grass from the lawn, so I just want to make sure that she never decides to try the other plants.

I would also prefer it if the spray didn%26#039;t hurt the plants. The poisonous plants are: peace lily, tomato plant, philodendron, aloe, and bird of paradise (and those are just the ones I can identify!). I would also like to eventually get hydrangeas, corn plant, Asian lily, Lily of the valley, and maybe calla lily.

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

there is a product made from apples, called bitter Apple or something, its a spray and works well for us
Reply:i dont know if it will hurt your plants but when my dog ate my shoes i sprayed them with hot sauce
Reply:A quart of water, a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent and a teaspoon of powdered cayenne pepper well-blended together and poured into a spray bottle will allegedly work well when applied to plant leaves Adding a tablespoon of lemon juice to the mix is optional. All of these are available cheaply from local stores and from your kitchen water tap.

Be sure not to spray it on in direct sunlight, to avoid burning the plants from the water droplets focussing sunlight on the leaves.

You might also consider dripping a little citronella oil and peppermint oil on the soil *around* the plants, not on the plants themselves, or simply hanging the plants from the ceiling so animals can%26#039;t reach them.

Can anyone tell me what kind of Clematis I have??

I bought it last summer late and it only grew about 2 inchs. This summer however it has taken over the arbor (yeah!) but it%26#039;s odd. Lots and lots of green and little tiny purple flowers with yellow centers and I notice there are little green looking %26#039;berries%26#039; growing on it. I remember the package showing me a pink verigated large headed Clematis (Nelly Moser ) and so far this looks nothing like it. The leaves are the same as my other Clematis (also Nelly Mosers) but the flowers on this one....weird. I can%26#039;t place what they are. They seem to be hanging kind of like lily of the valley or bluebells do. They were grown from a bulb start, not seed. Anyhelp on the ID would be great!! Thanks!!

Bouquets with no flowers?

Would it tacky or cheap if I had my bridesmaids hold bouquets made out of different ivy plants and leaves? I%26#039;m not a large fan of most of the flowers that could stand to last a whole wedding. The only ones I really like are orchids and lily-of-the-valley, which aren%26#039;t in my budget.

My fiance and I are going for a very earthy undertone to our wedding. Lots of greens and browns. I myself don%26#039;t plan on having a bouquet, or if I do, it%26#039;ll be ivy as well with some lily-of-the-valley picked from my backyard IF they%26#039;re growing at that time.

Would you be scandalized as a guest? Would you be angry as a bridesmaid? They%26#039;ll still be tied up with ivory and brown ribbons and arranged nicely so it looks like a real bouquet. Flowers just cost a bunch, and I see this as a good way of cutting corners for other things like food and photography.

There are a couple of alternative ideas. You could have crystal bouquets, ones made of fall leaves,

or you could use parasols. There is no law that says they have to carry anything.

You should do and have exactly what you wants that compliments what you like... why cut the flowers if you love the ivy, twigs and maybe some feathers that all repersent the elements of nature.
